“International Mother Language Day” was celebrated at the RMU

Every year on February 21, the world celebrates International Mother Language Day. At RMU, it has become a tradition to mark this holiday. An event dedicated to this day was held at our university.

The purpose of the event was to introduce students to International Mother Language Day, to foster a respectful attitude toward their native language, pride in their language, and a sense of belonging to their ancestors, people, and culture.

The special festive atmosphere of the event was enhanced by national costumes and musical performances organized by Associate Professor of the Department of Natural Sciences and Humanities D.T. Davletbakova, Associate Professor A.B. Daakybaeva, Associate Professor D.T. Abdykadyrova, and Senior Lecturer N.T. Dzhekisheva together with first- and fourth-semester students.

On International Mother Language Day, all languages are recognized as equal, as each of them is unique. In Kyrgyzstan, the state language is Kyrgyz, but the law of our country guarantees representatives of all ethnic groups that make up the people of Kyrgyzstan the right to preserve their native language and to create conditions for its study and development.

Each nation has its own unique and distinctive language that carries a rich heritage. The people of every country have their own characteristic features, traditions, and culture, and language is their direct reflection. It conveys the entire identity of a people; therefore, one’s native language is a true source of pride. International Mother Language Day is a very important and meaningful celebration.
